I have suffered from chronic depression since I was 12. In 2000, with young children at home, I hit a low so severe my therapist put me on depression medication. That was not a pleasant experience as the dosage was a guess at best. I gained weight. That increased my depression. I inquired, and Dr. Joni told me acupuncture could treat depression and anxiety. She began treating me in 2001 right after I got off the meds. It wasn't an immediate, overnight fix. But it made a noticeable difference. Eventually I found that a treatment every 3 weeks kept me in an uplifted and lighter state. I have continued treatments over the last 16 years. I no longer get fever blisters. I am more at peace and medication free. Its a more reliable and life saving option!
